CBSE Digital Evaluation System 2026 Announced for Class 12 Board Exams
CBSE introduces digital answer sheet evaluation system for Class 12 board exams 2026 session.
CBSE Introduces Digital Evaluation System for 2026 Board Exams
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a major reform in the Class 12 board exam evaluation process starting from the 2026 session. Under the new policy, answer sheets will be checked using the On-Screen Marking (OSM) digital evaluation system, replacing the traditional manual checking method.
This step is expected to improve accuracy, transparency, and speed of result preparation across CBSE examination centres nationwide.
What Is the New On-Screen Marking (OSM) System?
Under the new digital evaluation system:
- Answer sheets will first be scanned after the examination
- Copies will be uploaded to a secure digital evaluation platform
- Teachers will check answers through authorised online access
- Marks calculation will become automated and error-free
- Evaluation progress can be monitored in real time by CBSE authorities
This reduces human errors and improves fairness in the marking process.
Major Change: Marks Verification After Results Removed
CBSE has confirmed that from 2026 onwards, post-result marks verification for Class 12 will be discontinued because digital evaluation already ensures accurate totalling and checking.
However, students will still be allowed to apply for re-evaluation or answer-sheet photocopies under existing procedures if required.
Benefits of the Digital Evaluation Reform
According to CBSE officials, the new system will:
- Reduce calculation mistakes in answer sheets
- Improve transparency in evaluation
- Speed up board result declaration
- Allow monitored digital checking by authorised teachers
- Strengthen fairness in marking standards nationwide
Schools have also been instructed to upgrade internet connectivity and infrastructure support for smooth implementation of the evaluation system.
Important Update for Students Appearing in 2026 Exams
Students should note that board exams will still be conducted in pen-and-paper mode. Only the evaluation process is becoming digital, not the examination format.
This reform is considered one of the largest modernization steps in CBSE board exam evaluation in recent years and is expected to benefit lakhs of students across India.
